An 85th-minute punishment from substitute Paul Mullin saw Tranmere come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Southend.
Mullin awakened and smashed home from the penalty spot after being upended from Nathan Ralph in the box.
Southend fell when Tom Hopper – to his first start in nearly a year – clipped an effort finished keeper Scott Davies after meeting with Simon Coxs through-ball.
It must have been when an Tim Dieng planted a header wide from six yards out.
After pouncing after a handling error by Davies, cox subsequently lifted a shot on the roof of the net.
Rovers drew level just before the break when an angled strike caught just from 15 yards over the top.
After the restart Davies made a super save to keep out Isaac Hutchinson drive.
Rovers responded viewing with a curling shot cleared off the line by Joe Shaughnessy, and were rewarded following a closing 20 minutes.
