Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock says he is worried about Manchester City’s defence, describing a few of the gamers as“not powerful enough.“
City suffered their first defeat of the year as Norwich beat them 3-2 in Carrow Road.
They had been following knee surgery, Aymeric Laporte who’ll overlook.
Warnock told Sky Sports News:“You look at Manchester City’s seat at the back, it’s not strong enough and defences acquire you names.
„The players that Liverpool have to come in their attack will win them games, they are more than capable of scoring goals.
„So I fear for Manchester City, I worried that [Vincent] Kompany leaving would be a major loss for them, not only on the pitch but at and around the training floor, the mentality and understanding he has.
„He didn’t play many games for City, however it had been the big games when he was wanted.“
City’s shock defeat to Norwich has abandoned them five points behind Liverpool and Warnock is impressed with all the strength of Jurgen Klopp’s team.
„Everyone always says, if Liverpool lose among the front three, they’re in big trouble since they won’t score targets. I consider it the other way round.
„I believe Liverpool’s cover in defence – they have got [Dejan] Lovren, they’ve got [Joe] Gomez – that are seated on the bench who aren’t enjoying and that are capable of playing at the first team quite professionally.“
John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi started the match but their manager Pep Guardiola dismissed suggestions his side have a weakness in his or her defence.
He told Sky Sports after the defeat:“it is a venture that has played a lot. We’ve got Fernandinho and Rodri who can perform there in scenarios and it’s not a concern. Things happen.“
