Losing like that is really hard to swallow when you are a group in a divisional race. The Twins cant be going losing two out of three games against opponents. Having said that, the Mets have been helpful. The Mets defeated the Indians in extras last night, and so the blow off softens for Minnesota.
The AL Central stays the same following yesterday. Minnesota maintain their 2.5-game lead in the division entering Thursday. Play with spoiler and the White Sox may seem to pick up some momentum for next time. They may not be in contention in 2019, with a list of 57-69, but the White Sox have done right that can get fans excited for the long run. Yoan Moncada is. Moncada, that has been playing with a stint lately, is advised to return to the White Sox tonight.
Texas are coming from a fun day. They erased a deficit to triumph on a Hunter Pence walk-off in the 9th inning. The Rangers tied the ball game up and finished the Angels off. Pence was a sneak for the Rangers this season, which might have resulted in fine trade bait.
However, the Rangers decided to maintain Pence in their roster. Not knowing exactly what the Rangers were provided because of him makes it impossible to ascertain if this was a good move or not. The Texas Rangers have exceeded expectations. Their bats have been moving nicely for the vast majority of the season. The pitching staff has left a great deal to be desired, however. They are a top-10 crime, but as a group, the Rangers are 23rd in the majors with the ERA of 4.96. Ariel Jurado has performed a disservice to the Rangers in that regard.
He enters Thursday having an ERA of both 5.38 and 1.51 WHIP. It has been especially bad for him recently, in which Jurado has been occupying to get an ERA of 8.53 and 2.05 WHIP in his previous three outings. In his last 5.2 innings pitched, Jurado has gotten pummeled for 10 earned runs and 18 hits. Do not expect him to figure it out from the White Sox in Chicago here.
Then the White Sox must be in good shape against the Rangers if Ross Detwiler can have a good match that is enough. Detwiler hasnt been powerful. The prior National goes to this one with a 6.10 ERA along with 1.62 WHIP. In his last two outings, Detwiler got hit 8 earned runs in 7.2 innings of work.
The Rangers are great against Detwiler. Theyre hitting .303 using a .425 OBP in 33 at-bats. They may not be a team that is great, but there are still some bats in their lineup that a pitcher needs to be aware of. The last score is likely going to function as the high variety, thus a drama on the OVER seems like a choice for Thursday night.
