Authorities have arrested former Anderlecht executive Herman Van Holsbeeck as part of a money laundering and corruption investigation.
The prosecutor’s office in Brussels claims an arrest was made on Thursday after raids earlier this week in Monaco, Belgium and London which caused the arrest of Christophe Henrotay,“ one of the most influential agents working together with players.
A former player, Van Holsbeeck worked with Anderlecht out of 2003.
Prosecutors said that the wave of arrests is linked when police probed Anderlecht and the soccer association’s offices to searches that took place in April. Researchers are looking into corruption between players‘ transport and operations.
Agent Henrotay was detained in Monaco on Wednesday included in the analysis.
Henrotay is the agent of international superstars including Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and his Belgium team-mate Yannick Carrasco.
This circumstance isn’t related to the massive corruption scandal that dissipates football last year after authorities carried 57 police raids out in the nation and around Europe in a research into match-fixing and also fiscal fraud.
