Christian Eriksen says that he wishes his potential could be decided“like in Soccer Manager“ after failing to secure a move away from Tottenham.
The Denmark international, who scored Spurs‘ opener in their 2-2 derby draw with Arsenal on Sunday, confessed during the summer that he was considering leaving the club in order to“try something new“.
Eriksen, that was linked with a move to Real Madrid, will be in the final season of his contract and will be liberated to signal European clubs on a pre-contract agreement from January 1.
„I really wish I could decide just like in Football Manager, but sadly I can’t,“ Eriksen told Danish book Ekstra Bladet.
When asked if the remarks he made about his future were a error, Eriksen stated:“No, it was not. However, it is soccer and you don’t know what happens in soccer. Many things always come into play.
„To me it isn’t tough to clean my mind. I really don’t read much of what’s written.
„And now I’ve been involved for many years, where there have been a number of rumours every year. However, it’s clear that it’s been fierce this year since my contract is going to expire.
„I understand a good deal of individuals are considering where I need to perform with. That is the way it is. This is when you’ve done nicely the way that it is at a top club. There’ll always be rumours.“
