The set will back on Monday, although west Ham duo Robert Snodgrass and Declan Rice suffered a difficult time on duty.
Scotland lost both their Qualifiers into Russia along with Belgium, the defeat to the latter was the very first time Snodgrass had played with for Scotland one year ago, since dropping to the opposition by the exact same score.
“This was a bitterly disappointing number of results for us personally,” said Snodgrass.
“It was my first start in a lengthy period for Scotland, and to get beat the way we did…
“We switched off at times and if they’ve got the likes of [Kevin] De Bruyne, [Romelu] Lukaku and [Dries] Mertens in the side they can cause you difficulties and that’s what they achieved.”
Snodgrass is eager to focus on the struggle ahead, namely a visit to one of his clubs, Aston Villa, Monday Night Football in front of the Sky cameras.
“we would like to try and win the match in Aston Villa as, to keep on progressing, we must keep on winning football matches and need to bring various ideas to split these sorts of teams down.
“Aston Villa are a really good side. I’ve watched them a whole lot this year because of the fact I’ve been there and kept in touch with some of their staff and players, and we are going to have to be at our very best to find a result.”
Snodgrass’ West Ham team-mate Declan Rice continues to be facing a difficult time on the stage after death threats were received by him for choosing to play for England the Republic of Ireland.
In addition, he came in for some criticism because of his defensive error which led to Kosovo’s second goal against England at the European Qualifier of Tuesday .
Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini is confident Rice has the mentality to shoot all into his stride and flourish for the national side:”Declan is a really young player, he is advancing in every game that he playswith,” said Pellegrini.
“He’s only 20 years old and I think with his era it’s important he performs for England and it’s essential for him how he will demonstrate he operates.
“You can anticipate these errors for any kind of player. He’s improving and for the second he’s currently performing in this place.
“If you’re 20 years old you always want to play, but we’ll see whether he’s some muscle issue. For now Declan must continue playing.”
“When I shot him from this group I told him you want a few more games to work in that place, he constantly is improving and wishes to learn. He always knows what he is doing wrong and he wishes to improve on.”
“He has played in the best level for the two matches [for England] which will give him confidence.”
