Teenage striker Rhian Brewster is in Liverpool’s squad because of their Champions League group match against Napoli, with Divock Origi missing out.
Even the Champions League holders begin the defence of the European Cup title in Naples. Additionally in Group E are club and side Genk RB Salzburg.
Brewster, 19, hasn’t yet been contained this year. His sole involvement this term has been at the UEFA Super Cup squad.
However, the injury against Newcastle at Saturday’s 3-1 win at Anfield of Origi raises the probability of Brewster’s involvement against Napoli using Liverpool brief on choices.
In fact, Origi’s injury on Saturday motivated the Liverpool U23 training team to substitute Brewster 15 minutes in their game against Derby.
Origi, the Belgium ahead, was taken off after suffering a foot injury in Saturday’s 3-1 win and, according to manager Jurgen Klopp, he will undergo a scan to assess the damage.
