(CNN) — A former global footballer for Ghana along with quite a few English soccer clubs has died at age 40.
Junior Agogo, played 27 times for Ghana’s national team, scoring 11 goals. He scored the winning goal although the Black Stars were subsequently beaten in the semifinals by Cameroon.
Nevertheless, in Ghana’s 4-2 win Agogo also scored in the third place match of the tournament on the Ivory Coast.
The striker’s career was dominated by spells in England — notably by Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers — however he also played football in the US, Scotland and Cyprus.
Agogo and his address reportedly suffered a stroke and fought later.
He started his career at Sheffield Wednesday but made two Premier League appearances.
Prosper and agogo went on to join in Bristol Rovers in 2003, where he scored 41 goals.
His clubs turned to websites to show their respect.
Agogo joined Nottingham Forest in 2006 and quickly won over the hearts of lovers.
He played a leading part in the 2007-2008 league effort of the club, helping Forest win promotion to the Championship — English football’s second tier — according to a single fan.
Harry Cunliffe, who has followed closely Nottingham Forest his whole life, told CNN Sport“everyone loved“ Agogo, describing the forward just as a“fan “
His venture using all“Nathan Tyson fired Forest back into the Championship in some of their club’s darkest days,“ added Cunliffe.
Nottingham Forest stated their thoughts were with Junior’s friends and family at this“sad time.“
