Bury’s two MPs are part of a class calling for the expelled club to become reinstated in the EFL for a Sky Bet League Two side for its 2020/21 season.
Final week two-time FA Cup winners and the former League One team were thrown from the EFL.
Data analytics firm C&N Sporting Risk pulled to get Bury 90 minutes before the revised deadline of last Tuesday.
An international consortium has 7m in the bank and is about to finish a takeover of all Bury, in case the EFL agrees to reinstate the club, Sky Sports News knows.
James Frith MP (Bury North) and Ivan Lewis MP (Bury South) have released a joint statement, combined with Manchester mayor Andy Burnham and supporters society Forever Bury, who are all campaigning to attempt to defend the club’s standing in the EFL for next season.
It read:“We’re creating a working group to come up with a proposal to the Football League which would enable Bury to be admitted to Sky Bet League Two for the start of the 2020/21 season, subject to the submission of a credible plan to reconstruct Bury FC prior to the end of the year.
„First, we will work to develop a very clear proposition to the English Football League, by September 20, which will allow us the chance to work towards re-entry into League Two.
„Second, if the EFL agree with this proposal, we will then focus on a plausible strategy to rebuild the club, which signatories to this announcement will feel able to endorse.
„Third, if that commendable plan fails to emerge over the deadline then we take the EFL’s right to inflict their original choice.
„We are happy that Steve Dale has consented to give us a brief period of time to spot the right new owner for your club – we request in good faith that the current owner permits us the chance to take this proposal“
